the Indian MF Industry has grown from ₹ 7.43 trillion as on May 31, 2010 to ₹24.55
trillion as on May 31, 2020 more than 3 fold increase in a span of 10 years.
Industry’s AUM has grown from ₹ 12.04 trillion as on May 31, 2015 to ₹24.55
trillion as on May 31, 2020, more than 2 fold increase in a span of 5 years.
The Industry’s AUM had crossed the milestone of ₹10 Trillion (₹10 Lakh Crore) for the first time
in May 2014 and in a short span of about three years, the AUM size had increased
more than two folds and crossed ₹ 20 trillion (₹20 Lakh Crore) for the first
time in August 2017. The Industry AUM stood at ₹24.55 Trillion (₹ 24.55 Lakh
Crore) as on May 31, 2020.
number of accounts (or folios as per mutual fund parlance) as on May 31, 2020 stood
at 9.10 crore (91 million), while the number of folios under Equity, Hybrid and
Solution Oriented Schemes, wherein the maximum investment is from retail
segment stood at about 8.03 crore (80.3 million). This is 72nd
consecutive month witnessing rise in the no. of folios.
